K-Pop, K-Drama, Samgyeopsal, Tteokbokki, Kimchi, Jeju and Nami Island, etc. You'll all find these in one country, KOREA! My wife has been a fan of K-Drama for a few years now. As a result, with her influence, I'm now familiar to some K-Drama personalities and watched a few as well. Since we love to eat, we also tried to eat some Korean Food here in Dubai. We even found some Korean Stores in Karama and Al Barsha. All of these made us decide to go to Korea. In this post, I will share all the necessary information you need on how to apply for Korean Tourist visa in Dubai.

Documents Required for the Korean Tourist Visa Application

1. Completed and hand signed Application form.

2. Original Passport (valid for 6 months from date of travel and has more than two blank visa pages left) and a passport copy (A-4 size).

3. Photocopy of UAE Visa page which should be valid for more than 6 months, if not a UAE national.

4. One Passport size photo on white background ( not more than 6 months). Printed photographs are not accepted.

5. A signed and stamped employment/no-objection letter from the company which clarifies the applicant's full name, nationality, passport number, position, salary, the purpose of the visit etc. Or a copy of the trade license, if self-employed.

***If in case the applicant is unemployed, he should get the no-objection letter from his UAE visa sponsor which states the applicant’s full name, nationality, passport number and the purpose of visit, etc.

6. Recent original stamped bank statements and/or financial records in order to determine your financial stability for three months. If you are a salaried or waged employed, you must include bank statements that show your earnings being deposited regularly.

7. Copy of the hotel reservation, round-trip ticket and itineraries in South Korea.

*** Additional documents may be required.

Furthermore, you may consider to minimize the activities you will list on your itinerary that requires too much money. The consulate may look for bigger amount on your bank account if you have expensive activities. Also, I made a checklist which is very helpful in completing the requirements. Here is the link.

Most noteworthy, you can find the updated and complete requirements on the website of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai.

Submission of Requirements

Submit your complete requirements personally to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai.

The easiest route for me will be via Metro and Taxi. Take the Dubai Metro Red line bound to UAE Exchange and off to Business bay Station. You can take a taxi from the opposite side of Sheik Zayed Road and it will only cost around 15-20 dhs. Most of the taxis are not familiar with the exact location of the Consulate, so you will have to advise the driver of the exact location as per the map showing above.

I suggest you to come at around 8:00-8:15AM. The consulate opens at 9:00AM but they allow people to wait inside around 8:30 AM. Please note that it is on first come first server basis. Therefore, the earlier the better. Inside the Consulate, the security guard will ask you to get your ticket number. Wait for your ticket number to appear on the TV screen. Then, submit all your requirements for verification on window 2.

Make sure that your requirements are complete. Because if not, you'll be advised to come back to complete your requirements. If complete, you will be asked to sign the log sheet and pay the visa fee (FREE for Philippine Passport Holder). Then, a receipt will be provided which you will present upon collection of your Visa. The application is from 9:00 - 12:00 noon only but if you are still not called and it is already past 12:00 noon, don't worry, you'll still be accommodated as long as you already got the ticket number.

Passport and Visa Collection

On the receipt you received when you submit your requirements, the date and time for passport/visa collection is stated. It is usually 4 business days from the day you submitted your complete requirements. You can only collect it between 3:00 - 4:00 PM. Get a ticket number again for visa collection. Once your number appeared on the TV screen, go to window 2 and handover your receipt. Finally, you will receive your passport and you will be asked to sign the log sheet again.

How to apply for Korean Tourist Visa in Dubai

In my opinion, the Visa Application for Korea seems to be easier compared to getting visa from other countries like US, Canada or Europe (Schengen Visa). As long as your requirements are complete, there is a big chance that you'll get your visa approved.

    1. Hello, that is not true. Nagpunta ako ng Korean Consulate around 8:20AM and nakakuha ako ng number. But its best to come earlier so that you’ll finish earlier din. Natapos ako around 12:30pm.

    1. Hello, you do not need to show the booked tour/activities. You just need to provide a detailed information of your itinerary or the whole duration of your stay in South Korea.

    1. Hello, the amount you should have on your bank account will depend on the activities indicated on your Itinerary and on the duration of your stay in South Korea. I suggest you to avoid adding activities in your itinerary which has expensive entrance fee like Lotte World, Everland, etc. In our case, we initially have 3,000 dhs+ only in our bank account for the first month. But it will be case to case basis as they will also check your other requirements like salary, countries you visited in the last 5 years, etc.

      1. Hi. Ask ko lang po, panu kapag ung visa ko is for renewal this March and I’m planning to go on June. Is it not possible because as it stated UAE Residence should be more than 6 months. Early renewal sya actually kasi the original expiry of my UAE Residency is July. Any advise?

And also about the Bank statement po, kasi i’ll be going with my husband. And sa bank nya hndi kami nagsasave ng money dun. Only mine. Is it ok?

      2. Hello, if you’re visa is about to expire within the last 6 months, they will not accept your application. The visa and passport should be valid for more than 6 months prior to your application. It would be best to renew it first before you apply for your Korean visa.

  1. hi po! sa bank account, dapat po ba sa 1st month is nandun na ang budget money? may issue po ba if sa 2nd month is biglang aakyat ung account ko po at ang source na mkkita mismo sa statement ay for example, utang? salamat po.

    1. Hello, yes, its best to have the amount sa bank account by first month. Okay lang na mag increase ung amount ng pera mo sa account kahit na galing pa sya sa loan/cash advance though medio risky kasi un. If possible, mas okay kung ung amount is pumasok sa account nio before first month para sure. 🙂

      1. Hi! I’m planning to apply for a korean visa this 1st week of february. My travel date is on March 15 to 20. Okay lang po ba kung makita sa bank statements na walang natitirang balance sa account pero credited naman yung salary every end of the month. Salamat po.

      2. Hello, I am sorry for the late response. It will be risky kung walang amount na naiiwan sa account mo every month. The reason why they are asking for the bank statement is not just because they want to check your salary. They are asking for it for them to identify that you have the enough fund to travel and stay in South Korea for the whole duration of your trip. Malaki ung chance na ma deny ka kung zero balance ung account mo every month.

    1. Hi, it doesn’t need to be a day before exactly. As long as the bank statement you will provide will be for the last 3 months before you submit your requirements/application.

    1. Hi Po, what if Sa pilipinas po mangagagling pero dto po sa Dubai mag aapply ng Visa, may conflict po ba? and kailangan pa din po ipresent yung round trip ticket? thanks po 🙂

      1. Hello, Its okay to have your Visa applied in Dubai even if manggaling ka ng Pilipinas. Just make sure to include your round trip ticket from UAE to Philippines. 😀

  2. Hi, upon passport and visa collection pwede bang friend or family member ang magreceive? or may courier service kaya sila?

    1. Hello, If you cannot collect your visa/passport on the date stated on the receipt, you can instead collect it on the next business day during regular visa pick-up hours. Wala din sila courier unfortunately.

  3. Hi, is there any tourist visa fee when you apply? They emailed for the requirements and there are some fees mentioned, I don’t know if they assumed I’m not a Filipino citizen.

    1. Hello, If you’re a Philippine Passport Holder, there is no visa fee if you will travel to South Korea for 59 days or less and around AED 160 for other nationalities, visa fee may varies depending on your nationality.
